Meet the Men’s Captains 2025/26

Men’s Blues Captain - Deniz Ozer

Hello, I’m Deniz, the men’s Blues captain this year. I’m a third year HSPS student, also in my third year at CUAFC. We’ve had a successful first term so far, currently sitting top of our league. Many boys have also made the step up from the Falcs to the Blues and have risen to the challenge of playing in a higher league. Stats wise, Deniz leads the Blues in goals scored with 8 goals in 7 games and Jesse leads in assists with 7 assists in 7 games. The boys are hungry to win the league and return back to tier 1, as well as repeat our Varsity win. Captaining the side to the double will be a proud feeling and a great way to end three wonderful years with the Blues.

Falcons Captain - Alex Durrani

Hi, I’m Alex, this year’s Falcons captain. I’m in my second year of studying Natural Sciences at Queens’. I’ve loved every moment with the club since joining in preseason last year and so it’s been an honour to give back to the club so far.

After last year’s promotion to Midlands 3A and starting over with an almost completely fresh squad, this season has, as expected, proved to be a tough one. However, I’m really proud of the squad for the effort so far - coming out of the first 4 games with a win and a draw against some of the tougher opposition in the league, including Loughborough and Nottingham.

Now we look forward to a huge term, starting with an all-important game v Northampton, and finishing it with our varsity match in Oxford - in which I hope to right last year’s wrongs.

Kestrels Captain - Ben Grace

Hello, I’m Ben, the Kestrels captain this year. I’m currently doing my masters’ in Biochemistry and in my second year with CUAFC, and it’s been a brilliant experience so far.

Following the first treble in CUAFC history, it’s been a real honour to lead the Kestrels into our second BUCS season. The term has been largely successful: one win and three draws in the league, leaving us undefeated and playing some liquid football along the way. The standout moment was a convincing 3–0 victory against a strong Bedfordshire side, a performance that really showcased the quality and cohesion within the squad.

With two important fixtures coming up against our fellow Cambridge university: ARU, we find ourselves firmly in the promotion race. Additionally, we’re also aiming to repeat last year’s Varsity success against Oxford as Sundaram ball well and truly takes hold. Finally, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Abhi, whose tireless work and commitment as coach have been instrumental in our progress this season.
