12/11/25 Blues 8-0 UEA 3s
MOTM: George (XG was really high)
It was a luscious, sunny day in Norwich when the Blues arrived for the first round of the cup against UEA 3s. With new players in the squad and lots of speculation around UEA’s ability, the boys fired into the game fully switched on. UEA held their own for the first ten minutes. Jesse, in a post match interview, reported that he foresaw a 0-0 draw after playing during that opening period. Never has he been so wrong.
After a failed short corner generated another corner, Jesse delivered an incredible ball into the box, finding a crashing Toby Stewart who pummeled it into the back of the net. The flood gates were open. Soon thereafter, Deniz, finding himself in a bit of space, cut it back to Jesse who calmly passed it into the bottom right corner. The boys were starting to believe in themselves.
Deniz was upset not to be included on the scoresheet so far. UEA, having heard that an upset Deniz is very scary, decided to let him score a first half hat trick. After a quick link up with Tate-iola, Deniz slotted one past the keeper at the far post. Not long went by before he found himself receiving a ball from the midfield again, opening up on his left, and finding the near post finish this time. Jamal Bov-Trait Adisa, with an excellent first half performance so far, cut inside of his fullback and drew a foul right outside the 18. To complete the hat trick, Deniz curled one into the far corner, an impressive finish that killed all hopes of a UEA comeback.
I’d love to spice this up with some mention of UEA fighting back, but it really was quite one sided. In the dying moments of the first half, Clarkeh’s shot was met by a great stop from their keeper. After a poor clearance from their defender, Trizzy whacked it at the goal, fortunate to obtain his first ever CUAFC goal. Half-time.
The second half was fairly relaxed, with the boys taking in the golden hour sun. Cam Kerr was particularly happy not to be playing as he grounded himself in nature while running the line. An impressive cross from Mylo, freshly returning from injury, found Jamal at the far post who finished it bov-ly. Deniz, still hungry for more goals, shot on a free kick from 40 yards out, missing the goal rather embarrassingly. What an idiot. The pitch went quiet, nobody daring to bollock their supreme leader. Thankfully, he found the back of the net moments later with another excellent near post finish after a good pass from Ayoife. Game Ozer 8-0
Overall, an excellent day for the Blues! Many people made their Blues debuts, Blatchy grabbed his biggest win ever for CUAFC, a strong defensive clean sheet and offensive domination, and Clarkeh still hungry for goals. The boys headed back to Cambridge in good spirits. Good work lads, onto the next round of the cup.
