Blues vs Notts 4 Match Report

Blues 7 – 1 Notts 4s

Goals: Deniz x3, Benji x3, Teni x1

An outrageously early 11:45am meet for a home game that didn’t start until 1pm meant the boys naturally showed up at 12:15pm, watched a cracking final 5 minutes of Falcs vs Kezzies, and threw some shapes to Jesse’s tunes in the changing room. Vibes were high and after a rallying of the troops pre-kick off from General Blatch the boys were rearing to go. 2 minutes into the game, AK, who was already moving like prime Maradona, was regretably forced off due to a shoulder injury (get well soon AK 😢).

It was an unfortunate start, but Jack ‘Jezza’ Lynch came on with energy to burn, latching onto a lovely CK clipped ball in behind. Captain Deniz, who had set the standards early doors by arriving last to an already late-arriving squad, carried on this display of tardiness by arriving late into the box to tap in a Lynch cut back. 1-0 Blues. A Deniz goal meant a goal-scorers’ flick was now a certainty, and this put fire into bellies. Jesse, driving through the heart of midfield like a Rolls Royce, slid Benji through in behind, who clicked through the gears like a Dacia Sandero, before slotting past the keeper. Lightning struck twice and 10 minutes later Deniz turned provider for Benji to put in a third before the break. A solid first half performance but the boys went into the break hungry for more.

5 minutes into the second half, Thomas Musie came on to cause havoc down the left. The fourth goal came soon after, with the ball bouncing around in the box until Benji showed exceptional vision and execution to play Teni in, courtesy of 3 strategic deflections, to tap home from 6 yards. A finish almost as tidy as Teni’s folded kits. Musie was instrumental in the 5th goal, tracking his man to his own penalty box before galloping down the full length of the pitch like a juvenile gazelle to slot Deniz in. Cutting inside, Deniz curled the ball into the top left corner. Postage stamp one might say. It was a decent finish but was quickly dwarfed by goal number 6: an excellent, precision finish from 3 yards out, courtesy of a Mylo cross, by Benji. The Blues’ final goal of the game was from the spot, with Deniz slotting into the bottom right hand corner to complete his hattrick. The newly introduced Notts 4s left-back got a consolation goal, replying to Blues’ shouts of ‘let him shoot from there’ to send a strike from 30 yards out into the top right corner. Devastation for the back-line, particularly Craddock, Manthey, and Tristan who had been defensively flawless all game. An overall fantastic win but still 6 points left to claim… UTFCUAFC
