5/11/25 Men’s Blues 4-1 Lincoln 1s

Remember, remember, the 5th of November, not for Guy Fawkes but for the return of Patrick Brownlow. And my gosh some return it was. The boys met bright and early for a 9:30 departure from queens backs, we waved the women’s blues off onto their tinpot of a bus and we darted up the a1 to Lincoln. The game kicked off and the boys looked up for it, physical, free flowing with early chances flowing our way. A pull back to clarkeh saw the ball flying over the bar, a Cameron Kerr shot rolled into the keepers arms and a few Teni headers flew wide. Goals were coming. Around the 15th minute Teni pounced on a flick on, knocking both the defender and keeper over in the process of slotting the ball home nicely. Lincoln created little but when they did Manthy, Brownlow, Oj stood like a brick wall with Aram hoovering up any over hit balls. Deniz back in the 10 was terrorising Lincoln’s defence, running in behind non stop. Around the 25th minute mark Clarkeh smahed home a well worked sweaty goal. Deniz into Teni, Teni sets to Jesse, Jesse sends the keeper tescos and cuts it back to clarkeh who is waiting politely to smash home. The Blues see out the half and go into half time 2-0 up and hungry for more. Lincoln take the 5 minute walk back into the changing room, which must’ve looked like that Arteta dressing room scene. Meanwhile, wise words from Blatchy and Deniz were said, can’t remember what but they were wise. Half time saw the introduction of Joe Tait, who put in a shift in his debut for the Blues. Lincoln came out fiery, hacking every man down. Around 10 minutes into the half AK flew into the box, falling over his feet, which led to his shoulder dislocating again. Unfazed he walked off the pitch. Dally man and AM to the rescue! They hopped in one of the Lincoln girls cars to the hospital with him. But the girl had called ‘shotgun’ and so poor AK with his shoulder still dislocated had to squeeze in the back. I can assure you AK is okay and ended up having a fabulous time at the hospital #magicgas. Meanwhile, Roddy played a dream ball through to Deniz who was 1on1 with the keeper. You guessed it, he hits it wide. That doesn’t matter though as 2 minutes later he scores an absolute screamer with his weak foot. Quick touch out his feet, strike with the right, top right corner, keeper picking the ball out the net for a third time that afternoon. The fourth came through Deniz playing a delightful ball to clarkeh who somehow managed to play a one two with the post and put the fourth of the game in. 4-0 Cambridge. With 5 to play Lincoln win a free kick on the edge of the box. And fair play, it was a cracking effort into the top right hand corner. The full time whistle blew and the game ended 4-1. A dominant performance from the Blues, but still with more levels to reach. The highlight of the day was the bus journey back, which saw AM and Dally man freestyle for over an hour. Defo worth a watch. The blues look forward to a hard game vs UEA 3s this weekend in the cup. Well done to all those involved!
