29/10/25 Eagles 6-0 Birmingham IV
The sky was filled with the promise of rain, but the eagles’ hearts were filled with fighting spirit and motivation for back-to-back promotions. The scene was set: freshly cut catz pitches and freshly cut orange slices, ready to fuel the fight.
The fight did not last long - less than a minute in Eve roared with a goal into the brum net after a beautiful combination between Hipkiss and Bili reminiscent of a world-class Spanish midfield. Instead of droplets from the sky, shots began to rain on the brum goalkeeper, poor thing. Finally, a sofia mori free kick allowed Beth to run down the right wing; a cheeky dribble past a defender, a cross to the back post, and it’s Eve for the brace!
The eagles weren’t done yet, but more specifically, Beth Harris wasn’t done yet. In her eagles’ debut, she terrorized the brum defense by outrunning their left back and effortlessly stringing a myriad of passes around them. Until finally, after a smooth cross from anna landed at her feet, and with a clean first touch in the brum net. Still hungry for goals before having to leave for a supo at half time, Eve persevered, the promise of a hat trick was close. And indeed, after a throw in by isla the opportunity arose. One second, the ball was in the air. The next eve hit the volley from 30 yards out. It bounced on the ground and, almost tactically, bounced over the brum goalkeeper entirely. Flashbacks of tier 4 filled the eyes of the eagles at the end of this first half.
In the second half, the clouds did not stop the eagOALS for raining in. After a corner from sofia unluckily rebounded on an opposition player, a powerful praewa was quick to regain possession, drive it to the goal line and shoot it into the next from a near-impossible angle like a 2018 Benzema.
The eagles kept stringing passes in the midfield, and using the wings for depth. Emma and Rosie put a shift against a speedy attacker on the very few, but dangerous times she got possession of the ball. Keen for a comeback after a period of illness, maddy cooper was ready to be unleashed. Some people may see a dead ball in the midfield as an inconvenience, but maddy sees it as opportunity. With her world record speed and core strength maddy took this ball, cut into the middle of the pitch, past a defender, past another defender, and behind the goalkeeper. 6-0 was the score. The eagles were truly soaring.
A shout out goes to Eve for giving it 110% during the single half she could play. Another goes to Bili for retaining strength in the midfield despite previous injury earlier in the season, and for Evie for unimaginable passes into depth. Beth Harris, with multiple runs down the wing, and after creating multiple chances for goals on her eagles debut, is a worthy recipient of our player of the match award.
Propelled forwards by this show of skills, the eagles are ready to take on more challenging opponents in Nottingham over the next weeks. Ready to face them with calmness and composure, the eagles are eager for the challenge.
