Falcs vs Notts 5s Match Report

Falcs 3 – 0 Notts 5s

Goals: Tait x2, JT x1

Assists: Gonzo x1, Roddy x1, Tait x1

MOTM: Boris

As the Falcs prepared for their top-vs-bottom clash, they were banished to the Abbey because the Blues were hogging Grange (and if that wasnt enough, they took Greg and Lynchy too). But no bother. We also had to warm up on a very questionable field next door while the Eagles finished their early kick-off. But once we finally got out onto the astro, the Falcs started popping it about nicely, having just about adjusted to the horrific bobbles on the field we warmed up on. From the first whistle we were on it. Notts might’ve been top of the league, but you’d never have guessed it looking at them now. After a couple of early chances, the good football paid off. Great work down the right from Aidan, Mylo and Gonzo saw Gonzo get in behind and pull it back to Taitski, who made it 1–0. With Notts completely clueless about how to deal with OJ-ball, a second was on its way.

This time, down the left, Stanislav and Roddy combined well, and with the keeper spilling their ball into the box, the ball kindly fell to Taitiola on the edge who volleyed home his second. 2–0 and fully deserved.

Huge shoutout to the defence as well - Boris, Brandon, Toby and Nial (linesman) gave Notts absolutely nothing all game. And also to Mashby (ref) who had an uncharacteristically good game, who was maybe slightly biased as the Notts players called him fat pre kickoff. This was as opposed to their lino who was rattled by some 13 year old school kids on the side.

The second half rolled on and, after putting in serious shifts, Gonzo and Roddy subbed themselves off to well-earned rests. A short spell of questionable game management followed (causing OJ to lose his head on the side), as the Falcs kept pushing for a third rather than sitting back.

Eventually a chance came. A ball through to Taity from Boris, left him one-on-one for his hat-trick, but in true great-player fashion, he squared it to JT for a simple finish. 3–0.

This time actually deciding to manage the game properly, the Falcs saw out a quiet final quarter and sent the league leaders on a long journey home. Carl’s standard one win of the day secured. Then came Man of the Match. Mylo? Gonzo? Taity? No - OJ went with Boris. And to be fair, he did play well (for him).

A much-needed win as the Falcs continue their push to avoid relegation. UTFF, UTFCUAFC
